Majored in Japanese literature in university; studied a course in Japanese language teaching. After graduating, went on to teach Japanese at an India Institute of Technology location. Came back to Japan and enrolled in a graduate school music course. Had the opportunity to teach beginner and intermediate level Japanese as well as Japanese cooking in both New Zealand and later on in Malaysia. A message from Nariko / Her Philosophy

In my lessons I focus on teaching students to be able to speak practical Japanese that can be used in real-world daily life. Conversation is not a 1-way street, but rather requires effort on both parts. This is why instead of mere question-and-answer style practice, I focus on facilitating good and full conversation practice. From how to start conversations to ending them – and even how to react – I aim to share my knowledge of how Japanese people speak and interact with each other in conversation.
